First there was Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego
then there was Where in the World is Matt Lauer
Now it is Where in the World is MABEL?????
We have all heard or read about the family dog stolen from the family van of vacationers passing through our community and stopping to eat at Bob Evans. Please be on the lookout for this family pet which is 2 years of age, brindle and white in color, and weighs approximately 50 pounds. Mabel is micro-chipped.
Anyone who has spotted a dog resembling Mabel is asked to call the Liberty Police Department at 330-759-1511 or Paul and Brook Jillings at 208-407-4479.
Why anyone would steal someone’s pet like this is beyond understanding. If you see her, please call. If you have her please bring her back-no questions asked.

Also there is an activity page that gives the residents a daily update of incidents and arrests from the police department. Check out the “stats” page that shows the activity over the past 4 years for the department. Look over the “links” page very carefully. These will link you to pertinent sites that will inform the community about subjects from identity theft to sex offenders who reside in the township. Have children, teenagers??? People, students, businesses, organizations, schools–all these and many more are parts of a community BUT it is the EVENTS that bring all of these together and give us memories and pride . The one I am about to tell you about is fairly new but one of the most important, impressive and meaningful of all those every year.
Here is the who, what, etc. Please plan to participate.
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP THIRD ANNUAL
CELEBRATION IN THE PARK
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2012,  Admission FREE
PARADE AT 9 AM CELEBRATION 9 TO 5 PM
(Line up at Old School Property/Library — RTE 304– End at Administration Complex)
***Celebration is held at Liberty Center Park not Churchill Park

There will be a Car & Motorcycle Show, live music provided by The Juke Hounds, Crafters and Vendors, Food Vendors, a Children’s Area with Bounce Houses and games. There will be tables for organizations and businesses. In the Administration Building, the Liberty Historical Society will have an  educational display showing early township highlights, mine locations, World War I and WWII artifacts. The Historical Society will also have a Book Sale. A wide array of baskets to auction. The two previous Celebrations were successes. We did endure a storm last year. If the weather permits, this year should be the best ever.
The Celebration is managed by a committee of your friends and neighbors who work very hard to enhance our community and our lifestyle. It is sponsored by The Liberty Historical Society, The Township Trustees, Windsor House, Liberty Arms, Walmart, Great Clips, and the First Assembly of God Church.
WHAT CAN YOU DO???? Plenty, we need you, Here are some things:
1. If you would like a table or want to walk in the Parade as a group, please call Grimmett at 330-759-7858.
2. Check out the many baskets there will be to bid on of every design and content.
3. Please purchase an ad in the Celebration Program which will be available at the event. If you purchased one last year, please renew it and if you did not, please consider getting one this year. All proceeds from the Program go directly to Liberty Community Center. This is a separate account maintained to provide for a future Community Center. A Committee is working very hard to accumulate enough money to get a small building built so that other private and government money can be sought. Grants, etc. are not available unless “bricks and mortar” are already attained. Liberty is one of the few local communities without a Community or Senior Citizen Center. Your ad purchase would add not only money but support. Ads are as follows:
Quarter Page $25, Half Page $40, Full Page $75, Inside Cover $150, Back Page $200. Group or Single Name (Personal Ads) $5. In Memory Of $5, Friends of Liberty Ads $5. Please have all ads print ready. WangDoodle bookmarks Ever hear of them. Well they are very important. They are bookmarks which the members of Friends for Liberty Library make and then sell very cheap at the library. The proceeds from these are used for various projects which make our library better and help many who use it. They’re very simple to make, and if you can string beads and tie knots, then you can make Wangdoodles. We talk and laugh and have a good time – kind of like an old-fashioned quilting bee but with a much simpler task. Nancy (at the library) bought a very nice display stand for us at a garage sale, and it’s increased visibility for prospective customers. If you’d like to get together at the library and make some WangDoodles, please let me know. Want to help a little, call me. Everyone has my number.

Clarification I hope I did not confuse anyone with my last email. I will continue to do my e newsletter. I am not going to write for the paper again.

From Gloria 8/2/2012

August 2, 2012

Hi everyone, Lets talk for a minute.
I did the Liberty Reporter for many years but there came a time when it became just too much for me. Everything I had to attend, write about, edit, do the photos, and assemble for a page each week with a weekly deadline so I quit the volunteer “job”. Soon after that so many people told me in various ways that they missed the paper and all the info that it provided. I believe strongly that every community really needs a form of communication, so after some thought I decided to do this e-newsletter. I received so many thank you’s about it that I will continue it but I am asking some help from all of you. I have for the past several months been overwhelmed with personal needs for both me and my home but I think I have reached the point when I can get back to this project and do it in the way I intended to. I will stop whinnying about being behind, shut up and get some news out.
You should be receiving a number of news letters about events that took place in out community. Some of which you probably have heard about. If not you will become aware of them now and if you already were, you may see them a little differently because of some comments that will be offered with them. There is much that happens or is happening in our community. If you are aware of these events perhaps you will/can, participate/support them more. There is a cadre, larger than you think, of your neighbors, who work very hard to make Liberty an enjoyable, safe, and prosperous place to live and raise a family. Please think about helping in any way, however small that you can to make Liberty a success story.  Please consider the following:
1. I try to be as accurate as I can, Please get back to me about any gaffes that I make. I will admit and correct.
2. Please send me any news that you would like to share with your neighbors and send it ASAP so I can get it out.
3. Everyone tells me they love it when I make up a “calendar” of coming events for 1,2 or 3 months. This is the most difficult job of all as there are so many events happening that it is very hard to know them all–so–please send me coming events of any or all organizations that you know about ASAP. I will try to make a calendar as accurate as possible and include your event in time to make a difference. Name, date, time, place, cost, etc and contact person so I can get back to you. I will also put them in the regular YADA.
4. Please send me your comments about my project and what I am missing, messing up or could do it make it better for you. I am sorry that not everyone has a computer, but it might help if those that do could print it out and share it with those who you know do not have one. Sometimes there are messages regarding safety or other necessary news, please share these with others also.
In this fast paced, IT world we live in, there are many things that are out of our control but what kind of community we have is not one of those things-yet.
We can, you can, make a difference.
FYI: I can be reached at the following:
phone/fax 330-759-3231
Whenever possible please send news/ comments by email so I can cut and paste and save much typing.
Now lets get ready for some news!!!!!!!!
